The Franklin College women’s volleyball team took a swift win against Ancilla College Wednesday night, picking up their third straight win. The game ended in a score of 3-0, with every set won by FC.
The first set began close, but soon the Grizzlies broke through the series of ties and remained dominant from their ninth point all the way through to point 25.
In the middle of the set, a ball from Ancilla briefly was caught in the rafters, which caused a moment of confusion for both teams. A kill by junior Abby Sewell secured the first set for the women.
Two kills in a row by Sewell started the second set off on the right foot for the Grizzlies. The team reached five points without giving up a single point to Ancilla. Franklin maintained a nearly 10-point lead throughout the second set and ended the set 25-14 with a kill by junior Kyndall Boyll.
The Grizzlies dominated the third set from the very beginning. The Franklin women smiled and celebrated every point and closed out with a 25-9 victory.
“I think we played at our own pace instead of playing at theirs,” said senior Kylie Paul, who helped defeat Ancilla with her three service aces.
The team will next travel to Cincinnati to face off against Mount St. Joseph on Oct. 5 at 1 p.m., followed by a game against Mount Vernon Nazarene at 3 p.m.
